Ruby Dean White, age 94, of Kingsland, Texas, was called home to Heaven on the morning of March 29, 2026.
Ruby was born on September 16, 1931, in Holland, Texas, to Mose and Millie Eilenberger. She was the tenth of eleven children. At the age of six, her family settled in Davila, Texas, where she spent her childhood in the cotton fields alongside her family, learning the value of hard work and perseverance while creating cherished memories with her siblings.
At eighteen, Ruby moved to Floresville, Texas, to live with her sister Mary Belle and began working in the Floresville school cafeteria. It was there that God’s plan for her life began to unfold. In January, she met the love of her life and soulmate, Chester White. They were married on March 18, 1950, and made their home in San Antonio, Texas, where they built a life together and were blessed with three sons: Chester Jr., Samuel, and Charlie. Ruby and Chester shared 34 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 1984.
Despite facing progressive vision loss, Ruby lived with remarkable determination and joy, never allowing her circumstances to diminish her spirit. She had a steadfast belief that nothing was impossible. She dedicated ten years working in the food service department at San Antonio State Hospital, continuing as long as her vision allowed. In her husband’s final years, she lovingly cared for him through his battle with cancer.
Throughout her life, Ruby maintained her independence with the help of five devoted seeing-eye dogs Helen, Wendy, Quasar, Hailey, and Opal, who faithfully served as her companions and guides.
Ruby was a woman of deep faith, unwavering strength, and profound devotion to her family and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her true calling was ministry. She shared her musical gifts as a pianist at Victory Assembly for seven years and later served at Glad Tidings Assembly of God in San Antonio, where she was Women’s Ministries President and Prayer Captain for thirteen years. She also spent five years visiting local nursing homes, bringing comfort and joy through hymns and piano music.
After moving to Marble Falls in 1994, Ruby remained active in her faith at First Assembly of God, where she sang in the choir and, in her vibrant spirit, even played the bongos on the praise and worship team.
Ruby believed the kitchen was a place of ministry. A gifted cook and baker, she blessed others through her hospitality. In San Antonio, she was known for delivering homemade banana nut bread to the elderly. In Marble Falls, she lovingly baked pies for neighbors and friends on their birthdays.
Above all, Ruby was a devoted prayer warrior. Each day, she could be found on her knees, faithfully interceding in prayer for her sons and their families, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and even strangers. Her family was always at the center of her prayers.
Ruby’s legacy of faith, resilience, and love lives on through her family. She is survived by her sons, Samuel White, Charlie White Sr. and wife Sheila; her grandchildren, Charlie White Jr. and wife Christy, and Melissa Martin and husband Billy; her great-grandchildren, Charlie White III and Caden White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Chester White Sr., and her son, Chester White Jr.
A celebration of life will be held in San Antonio at Mission Park South on April 11, 2026, with Pastor Don Zercher officiating. Ruby will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Mission Park South Cemetery.
