Doris Rose Schaeferkoeter, 92, of Kyle, Texas, died Friday, April 3, 2026, at Orchard Park Senior Living Community.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall, Texas with the Reverend Ryan Meyer officiating.
Graveside Services and Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Viewing will be the same day as the funeral service from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Doris was born June 26, 1933, in Fredericksburg, Gillespie County, the daughter of Benno L. O. and Clara Feuge Land. She married Roy Wesley Schaeferkoeter of Stonewall at Trinity Lutheran Church May 25, 1952. She was baptized at Bethany Lutheran Church August, 13, 1933 and confirmed her faith at the same church March 21, 1948. She attended the Crabapple School in Gillespie County, Texas through 6th grade which was a one-room limestone rural schoolhouse serving German immigrant families, before consolidating with Fredericksburg ISD. She then attended 7th – 12th grade and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1950.
Doris retired as a Blanco County Deputy Clerk in October 1999 where she was employed 12 years. Previously, she taught at the Stonewall Head Start, worked at a sewing factory and Fredericksburg Bakery. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1952 and volunteered at the Church until 2018 when she moved to Assisted Living in Kyle, Texas. Over the years she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher, officer and teacher in a women’s group, delivered food to shut-in members of the church, sewing projects for Lutheran World Relief and New Life Center for girls, and read lessons during worship services and attended Bible Study. She served as a liaison for Lutheran Brotherhood and was recognized for her service. She served the community as a 4-H leader for many years and received a plaque for “Outstanding Adult Leader” from the Early Bird 4-H club.
Doris is survived by a son and daughter: Nathan Wayne Schaeferkoeter of Blanco, Texas and Lori Ann Ellison (Aubrey David Ellison, spouse) of Bryan, Texas; three grandchildren: Stephanie Ruth Schaeferkoeter (Cameron Basquez) of Maxwell, Texas, Sarah Nicole Woods (JerMilton Woods, spouse) of Memphis, Tennessee, and David Alexander Ellison of Austin, Texas; and three great grandchildren: Brighem Wayne Basquez, Codi Grace Basquez and Alora Marie Woods, one sister-in-law: Josephine Schaeferkoeter, one brother in-law: Galen Dodson, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In addition to her spouse and parents, Doris is preceded in death by two sisters: Isabel Dodson and Margaret Land, eight brothers-in-law: Keyser Bierschwale, Ernest Hoffmann, Hilmar Knoll, Max Schaeferkoeter, Willie (June) Schumann Jr., Willie Schaeferkoeter, Don Smith and George Creel as well as three sisters-in-law: Leola Bierschwale Hoffmann, Clara Knoll, and Lonie Schumann.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Stonewall, Texas.
Pallbearers include Charles Bierschwale, Rodney Hinesman, David Alexander Ellison, Justin Roederer, Kyle Roederer, Ty Duesterheft. Honorary Pallbearers Myron Uecker and Tim Schumann.
