David Torrez, age 69, of Manor, TX, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13th, 2026, surrounded by the love of family.
Born on September 3, 1956, in Corpus Christi, TX, David was the beloved son of Jose Juan Torrez and Juana Estella Torrez. David was a devoted spouse, sharing 47 years of marriage with Lori, and raising Alexander and Ashley with love, patience, and a steady example of faith. As a grandparent, he found a special joy in the lives of his grandchildren, cherishing time spent with them, sharing stories, laughter, and simple moments that mean everything. David proudly served his country as a retired veteran of the Air Force, carrying that same sense of commitment and resilience into every part of his life. Though he lived simply, he lived well, and his life leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service, and love.
A faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus, David lived a life rooted in Christ, guided by prayer, charity, and service to others. Whether in prayer, at Mass, or in the way he treated others with kindness and respect, he lived his beliefs without needing to speak them loudly.
David is preceded in death by his father, Jose Juan Torrez, mother, Juana Estella Torrez, daughter, Amanda Torrez, and daughter, Wanda Torrez. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Lori Torrez, his son, Alexander Torrez (Danielle Torrez), his grandson, Hunter Krebsbach, his granddaughter, Brianna Torrez, his granddaughter Audrianna Torrez, his grandson, Case Torrez, his daughter, Ashley Freidberg (Neil Freidberg), his grandson, Everett Freidberg, his sister Irma Garcia, his brother, Rudy Torrez, his brother, Gilbert Torrez (Catherine Torrez), his sister, Hilda Carrillo (Abel Carrillo), his brother, Ricky Torrez (Linda Torrez), his brother, Fabian Torrez, and his brother, Juan Torrez (Robert Brown) who will carry his example with pride and gratitude.
A Visitation/Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 28th, 2026, at the Elgin Funeral Home in Elgin, TX. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 29th, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manor, TX, followed by the burial at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, TX.
