Javier H. Tienda Sr., 71, passed away surrounded by the love of his family on Sunday, March 1, 2026 after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. A proud native of Corpus Christi, Texas, he lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
A graduate of Miller High School, Javier was a natural-born leader. He honorably served and retired from the United States Navy and later dedicated over 30 years to the United States Postal Service. He was known for his strong work ethic, servant’s heart, steady leadership, and ability to fix just about anything.
Above all, Javier was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. His greatest love was his wife, his faithful partner and caring companion of 51 years. Through every season of life—especially in his final days—she stood unwaveringly by his side. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love, quiet strength, and lifelong devotion until the very end.
His family was his greatest joy, and he shared a special and beautiful bond with his grandson Ryan who was “his handsome young man.”
He faced Parkinson’s disease with courage and dignity, and we find peace in knowing he is now with Jesus—fully restored and finally free.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodolfo and Ana Tienda; his father and mother-in-law, Armando and Maria Monica Barrera; and his siblings, Rose Mary Caudillo and Gilbert Tienda.
Javier is survived by his loving wife, Genoveva “Genie” Tienda; his children, Leticia “Letty” Tienda (Logan Lepe) and Javier Tienda (Katie); his cherished grandchildren, Ryan Torres, Giovanna Lepe, Austin Tienda, and Ethan Tienda; his siblings, Gregorio Tienda, Irma Bulcen, Connie Tienda, Oscar Tienda, Sylvia Tienda, and Hector Tienda Sr.; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends whom he loved like family.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit Hospice and to Mariella at Teravista for the compassionate care and kindness shown during Javier’s final days.
Javier’s legacy of faith, sacrifice, and love will live on in all who knew him.
He will be laid to rest at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, located on 9974 IH 37 Access Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410. Service details will be posted at a later date. We thank you for your patience at this time.
